What Is Melanoma?

Of the three commonly known skin cancers, melanoma is the least common but the most serious. There are over  10,000 cases of melanoma diagnosed in Australia every year,  and it is the most common cancer in people aged 15-44. People with multiple moles or sunburns in the past including those with a family history of melanoma are particularly at risk. Importantly melanoma can appear anywhere on the skin including previously non sun-exposed areas.
