At the Molesafe Skin Cancer Clinic, we are proud to be the first clinic in Australia to offer Photodynamic Therapy (PDT) using the Medisun PDT 9000 white-light system — a major advancement in the treatment of sun-damaged skin and early precancerous lesions such as actinic keratoses.
Traditional PDT uses intense red light, which is highly effective but often extremely painful for patients. The Medisun PDT 9000 replaces red light with high-performance white LED light, delivering the same therapeutic benefit with dramatically less discomfort. For many patients, this means minimal pain, improved tolerability, and a far more comfortable treatment experience.
The process remains scientifically robust: a photosensitising agent (usually ALA) is absorbed by abnormal, sun-damaged cells, making them highly sensitive to light. The Medisun’s advanced white-light technology then selectively destroys these cells while preserving the surrounding healthy skin.
